SOPHIE OGILVIE

Sophie Ogilvie is a musician, songwriter, and media studies researcher based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. Approaching songwriting with the confessional lyricism of folk and a penchant for pop structures, Ogilvie’s sound is set apart by her deft command of the voice.

Her debut solo EP Coming Up, Crocus (2023) moved fluidly between downtempo, singer-songwriter, and R&B genres, reaching audiences on programs like CBC’s Afterdark with Odario Williams and Breakaway, and Exclaim!’s ‘Eh! List.’

Resignations (2025) sees Ogilvie turning darker, balancing harsh guitar tones and rich, sultry vocals. The sophomore EP marks the solidification of Ogilvie’s unique writing and playing style.

Ogilvie is also pursuing a PhD in Communications at Concordia University, where she researches the role of streaming platforms and arts councils in the Canadian music economy, and teaches sound studies, communication studies, and audio production.
